Trouble at Little Mix Newmarket Nights Event

Little Mix - Newmarket Nights

The Newmarket Nights event featuring Little Mix has been criticised after the event was marred by rowdy behaviour by “drunken adults”.

The event attracted 22,000 thousand young fans and families and was billed as a family event.

Cambridgeshire police are investigating reports of common assault alleged to have happened at the event.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Constabulary said “We are investigating a report of common assault that took place at Newmarket Racecourse on Friday evening (June 23). The victim, a woman in her late teens, received minor injuries as a result of the incident and did not require medical attention. In separate incidents, officers assisted the employed private security company in removing a small number of intoxicated people from the site. No arrests were made.”

The Jockey Club’s Regional Director, Amy Starkey, commented “We are very sorry and saddened to hear that a number of customers have been affected by the mindless actions of a small number of people at the event on Friday. I can confirm that a number of incidents were dealt with on Friday evening in the presence of security and police on course.

The team and I remain absolutely committed to ensuring that anybody who attends an event with us has a good experience.

We take all feedback very seriously and I can confirm that we consistently strive to improve the experience for our customers. On Friday we had a steady flow of people arriving for the event with a record number of police and security on site. We also had the Safety Advisory Group from the local authority attend on Friday who conducted a full inspection which will be included in the review process.”
