Free parking trial proving popular
West Suffolk Council’s free first-hour parking trial in Newmarket continues after launching in late June. The initiative is designed to encourage more visitors into the town centre and support local independent shops, cafés and businesses during the summer months.
New ShopSafe scheme launched
A new partnership between Love Newmarket and Suffolk Constabulary has introduced the ShopSafe platform. The scheme allows retailers to share information more quickly about shoplifting and anti-social behaviour, helping improve safety for businesses, shoppers and visitors.
Busy start to the summer racing season
Newmarket is preparing for one of its biggest weekends of the year as thousands of visitors are expected for the prestigious July Festival, bringing a welcome boost to local hotels, restaurants, pubs and shops.

The highlight of Newmarket’s racing calendar returns to Newmarket Racecourses with three days of world-class Flat racing.

Thousands of racegoers are expected to attend one of Britain’s premier horse racing festivals.
July Cup Day
Saturday 11 July
The final day of the festival features the famous July Cup, one of Europe’s most prestigious sprint races, alongside a full afternoon of racing and entertainment.
World Cup Lego Trail
Running until 19 July
Families can enjoy a free trail around Newmarket town centre searching for hidden Lego footballers in shop windows, celebrating the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Complete the trail for a chance to win prizes.
Newmarket Experience Tours
Throughout July
Discover the “Home of Horseracing” with guided behind-the-scenes tours, including training yards, gallops and historic racing locations. Tours run on selected dates throughout the month.
Newmarket Nights
Following the July Festival, the hugely popular evening concerts continue with Madness performing live after racing on 17 July as part of the Newmarket Nights series.
